    I just finished knitting a little dress for a friend who is pregnant. She loves Scooby Doo, so I thought a little "Daphne" dress would be appropriate.





    I've been thinking I want to make it again in a sailor version; white with navy blue stripes and neck tie.

    Here's the pattern if you'd like to make it. But here's my disclaimer: This pattern has not been edited by an editor. Knit at your own risk.

    Daphne

    Garment is seamless and worked from the top down.

    Size
    3-6 Months

    Finished Measurements
    Length: 14 inches (hem not rolled)
    Chest: 22 inchees

    Materials
    Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (55% Merino wool, 33% Microfiber, 12% Cashmere; 125m/50g)
    (A) #010 ; 2 skeins
    (B) #608; 1 skein
    (C) #002; 1 skein

    1 24-inch US#3 circular needle
    1 set US#3 dpn
    One 3/8-inch button
    Stitch markers
    Waste yarn
    Stitch holders

    Gauge
    25 sts x 34 rows = 4x4 inches in St st

    PATTERN

    Left Front
    With circular needles and A, CO 13sts using a provisional cast on method. Work 10 rows in St st. Next RS row: K2, m1, k to end of row. P next row. Repeat these two rows 4 more times. Cast on 15 sts at beg of RS row. Break yarn and place stitches on stitch holder.

    Right Front
    With circular needles and A, CO 13sts using a provisional cast on method. Work 10 rows in St st. Next RS row: K to last 2 sts, m1, k2. P next row. Repeat these two rows 4 more times.

    Join Front and Shape Armhole
    Next RS row: K1, m1, k to end of row, join left front, k to last st, m1, k1 (53 sts).
    Next WS row: P to end of row.
    Next RS row: K1, m1, k to last st, m1, k1.
    Next WS row: P to end of row.
    Repeat last 2 rows 2 more times (59 sts).
    Place stitches on stitch holder.

    Left Back
    Slip 13 sts from provisional CO edge of left front onto circular needles. With RS of front facing, join A and k to end of row. Using a provisional cast on method, CO 14 sts.
    Next WS row: K3, p to end of row.
    Next RS row: K to end.
    Next WS row: K3, p to end of row.
    Repeat last two rows 3 more times.
    Place stitches on stitch holder.

    Right Back
    Slip 13 sts from provisional CO edge of right front onto circular needles. With WS of front facing, join A and p to end of row. Using a provisional cast on method, CO 14 sts.
    Next RS row: K to end.
    Next WS row: P to last 3 sts, k3.
    Next RS buttonhole row: K1, yo, k2tog, k to end.
    Next WS row: P to last 3 sts, k3.
    Next RS row: K to end.
    Next WS row: P to last 3 sts, k3.
    Repeat last 2 rows once more.

    Join Backs and Armhole Shaping
    Place stitches from left back on needles. K1, m1, k to last 3 sts of left back. With RS facing, line up the garter st edging so the left back is behind the right back. K the next stitch of left back tog with first stitch of right back. Repeat twice more. K to last st of right back, m1, k1 (53 sts).
    Next WS row: P to end of row.
    Next RS row: K1, m1, k to last st, m1, k1.
    Next WS row: P to end of row.
    Repeat last 2 rows 2 more times (59 sts).

    Join Back and Front
    CO 3 sts at beg of row of Back, pm A, CO3 sts, k to end of row, CO 3 sts, pm B, CO 3 sts, k across Front, join in rnd and k to marker A.
    Working in rnd, k 5 rnds.
    Next inc rnd: K1, m1, k to 1 sts before marker B, m1, k1, slp marker B, k1, m1, k to 1 st before marker A, m1, k1.
    Work inc rnd every 6th rnd 15 times AT SAME TIME wwm 5.5 inches from armhole, work B for 1.25 inches, A for 2 inches, B for 1 inch. P 3 rnds. Bind off.

    Sleeves
    With RS facing, use dpn and A, start at base of armhole, pick up and k48 sts evenly around armhole, pm at EOR. Working short rows and picking up wraps as you come to them, shape sleeve cap as foll:
    Work 16 sts, pm A, work 16 sts, pm B, W&T.
    P to marker A, W&T.
    K to 2 sts past marker B, W&T.
    P to 2 sts past marker A, W&T.
    K to 4 sts past marker B, W&T.
    P to 4 sts past marker A, W&T.
    K to 6 sts past marker B, W&T.
    P to 6 sts past marker A, W&T.
    K to EOR, join in rnd.
    K 3 rnds, removing markers A and B as you come to them.
    Next dec rnd: K2tog, k to 2 sts before EOR, ssk.
    Repeat last 4 rnds 6 times more (34 sts).
    With B k 9 rnds. P 3 rnds. Bind off.

    Neck Tie
    Using circular needles, place provisional cast on sts from Left Back on left needle. Using C, knit to end of row. Pick up and knit 18 sts along left neckline and 16 sts across center front. Cast on 34 sts. Work in St st for 10 rows. Bind off.

    With C and circular needles, CO 24 sts. Pick up and knit 18 sts along right neckline. Place provisional cast on sts from Right Back on left needle and k to end of row. Work in St st for 10 rows. Bind off.

    Place left tie over right tie and sew in place.

    Finishing
    Weave in ends. Sew on button. Solve a mystery.
